Finding Your Happy

The saying goes that happiness is a journey, not a destination. However, all too often we allow expectations, responsibilities and pressures of life, hold us back from focusing on the things that bring us joy.


Yes, life can sometimes resemble a roller coaster ride, bursting with complex human emotions. But never forget, you and you alone, are in control of your own happiness journey. There’re a multitude of practices you can engage to increase your pleasure levels and help you get your bliss on.


Gratitude

The practice of gratitude brings joy, love and appreciation to all that you are and have, right now, in this very moment. Putting focus on all of the abundance in your life, as opposed to what is lacking, ignites a sense of peace from within.


Meditation

Meditation brings calm and focus to the mind, releases stress and anxiety, helps improve sleep quality and enhances strength, energy and self confidence. All of these aid in stifling negative thinking and support you in operating from a place of happiness.


Moving your body

When you exercise your body, a flood of happiness inducing chemicals are released from the brain. Endorphins, dopamine, adrenaline and endocannabinoid can reduce feelings of stress and anxiety and increase levels of joy, happiness, confidence and motivation.


Give

We often become so focussed on our own struggles and hardships, so caught up in our own needs and desires, that we adapt a victim mentality. Shifting your focus from yourself to another human being, indulging in the act of giving, creates a sense of joy like no other. Whether it be a friend, family member or a stranger in the street, just give.


Do things that spark your fire.

Don’t navigate your life based on expectations from others or fear of judgment. It’s your life and you have freedom of choice. So, choose to do things that light you up.
